Stage 4
Frere Jacques – The traditional tune & Mahler’s minor version for round singing or solfa instruction via the Kodaly/Orff approach
Young Persons Guide Orchestra Theme (Britten) – This is a year 7 worksheet for Instruments of The Orchestra
1812 Overture Themes (Tchaikovsky) – This accompanies a unit on programmatic music that I teach, using an Orff & Kodaly approach
Huton Fowls Legs (Mussorgsky) – To accompany a unit of programmatic music I cannot go past the pentatonic Great Gate of Kiev and my favorite, The Hut on Fowl’s Legs
Hall of the Mountain King (Grieg) – To continue with the programmatic theme
The Themes of John Williams (Williams) – I arranged these for my year 7’s to perform and analyse. They are excellent themes from a great composer and they really involve the students!
Beatles Bass Riffs (Beatles) – These are some well known bass riffs for piano right hand and guitar for my year 8 classes
Beverly Hills Cop Theme (or Axel F) – This theme is a simple worksheet for a unit on ostinatos
Boyfriends Back (The Angels) – This is a fun class performance piece with vocal parts and it is great for teaching ostinatos
World Music Scales (Scale Chart) – This worksheet has scales from all around the world for composition or analysis
Food Glorious Food (Bart) – from the Musical that ‘wants some more.’
Little Shop of Horrors Themes (Menken) – An excellent and funny musical. I use this for singing and analysis of the tunes

Jada – This is a great work for introducing Jazz and improvisation
Themes of Nigel Westlake (Westlake) – Themes by the Australian composer that we use for our Australian component
