While working as Composer in Residence I developed some connections and a love of musical analysis. So when I was approached by some very talented people to help them develop an eResource for their educational program I was very interested. The following webpage of analysis and educational activities was made possible through a commission by »Ironwood chamber group as well as Music Teacher and personal inspiration, Karen Carey of »Mrs Carey’s Concert.

The website was made for IOS and has contextual information around when Mozart wrote his Clarinet Quintet, analysis of each of the four movements plus composition activities to try with your classes. There are videos of the score excerpts too!

It is an engaging, user-friendly and imaginative resource. (Karen Carey)

All audio was recorded live by the Ironwood Chamber Ensemble on period instruments from the time of Mozart. It is their unique skills and love of Mozart that brought this project to life!

Mrs Karen Carey now Artistic Director at Santa Sabina College in NSW Australia completed the analysis and provided the framework for me to put this together. @MrsLauraW and artist Rebecca Burgess (who was commissioned through eLance) did an incredible job on the design and sketches respectively. It is an amazing result.

The great part of this collaboration is that my students in Korea are now learning about analysis from Mrs Carey! This could be the start of a new collection of Music Resources for all students.

Initial design Sketches were made using Apple’s NUMBERS application in iWork. The tabbed view and editing features allowed easy drag, drop and paste functionality into Tumult’s Hype Application.
