From time to time I come across some fantastic videos for use in the classroom.
This will be a regular feature on my blog from now on and research now suggests that beginning a class with something engaging that leads directly into your lessons/learning activities helps students to focus and be more creative in their work. Not to mention you (as the teacher) get to show how tech savvy you are 
Let’s start with a fantastic LEGO Orchestra conducted by Darth Vader himself. This could be used to introduce Film Music, Character Motif writing or even begin a unit on the Instruments of the Orchestra.
Now lets say you wanted to introduce Opera, or a unit on Verdi or even Romantic Music. This claymation video will have your students minds/ears/eyes instantly and the music fits wonderfully with the imaginative claymation!
Now for this last one I have again chosen a claymation video, this time set to Grieg’s Programmatic “Hall of the Mountain King.” I use this piece to teach students about tempo, dynamics, instruments etc. But I would never have imagined this piece being set to a Chess game!
I seem to be having a hard time , subscribing to your RSS feed. It comes up with error 302. Let me know if its a common error or if its just me . Ive tried firefox and IE. Im using Bullguard Firewall and im not sure how to turn it off . Im not that good with Laptops. Ill revisit your site and see if you have responded. all the best
Using Firefox 3.5.7 there are a few ways to subscribe to the feed from wrightstuffmusic.com:
1. Try pasting this link into your browser or RSS feed reader: feed://wrightstuffmusic.com/feed/
2. Try clicking on the RSS grey icon in the right hand ‘useful links’ rack
3. Try the blue RSS icon next to my website’s URL in your browser
Lastly, if they don’t work you may have the wrong settings on your firewall or browser. Do a search for ‘free rss reader’ or ‘best (mac or windows) rss reader’ and you can download a dedicated app for all your rss needs. These will most certainly work!
By the way, if you have a mac may I recommend the free Newsfire app (http://www.newsfirerss.com/) or for cross platform RSS Feed readers try RSSOwl (http://www.rssowl.org/).
