I subscribe to some fantastic blogs and RSS feeds to do with education, music technology and more. I have created a page of such feeds under the “Music Ed” drop down menu at the top of my site. Please visit them and see what they have to offer you. I will be updating them as I come across more.
I particularly wanted to draw attention to the latest “iPad in the Music classroom” post over at James Frankel’s Musiced.net site. A lack of Imagination or Motivation can be the arch nemesis of any teacher. But his imagaintive future using the iPad in the classroom has amazing potential. With minds tuned in to the lastest innovations and how they could be used for education, everyone should have rss feeds across their browsers. What do you think?
By becoming a part of a global community educators can enrich their own personal development, gain insights into other teaching methods as well as learn some exciting skills. Visit Kim Cofino’s Blog Always Learning to see some presentations on the benefits of becoming part of the global teaching profession.
One of the reasons for creating this site was to connect with a larger pool of teachers and to gain insights I would not have had being isolated in a small part of Australia. My wife Laura has been creating blogs for some time now and her site is dedicated to using her knowledge to help others or enrich her own teaching, Teaching and Learning.
Don’t stop at RSS Feeds though. Have a go at Diigo (online bookmarking), ISSUU (digital publishing) and website/presentation sites like WIX.COM and Voice thread. Everything helps to increase the power of what we teach, how we teach it and the results it can inspire in our students – or even our own children 🙂
Finally, I had the privilege of working with an IT innovator for education, Tom March, for four years at one of my previous schools. His blog and ideas are great spring boards for the classroom and a teachers own skill development. Have a look!
Other feeds to try out – click on the RSS icon on the right hand side of the websites’ address in your browser. You can then choose to have the feed on your browser or in a program like Mac Mail or Entourage. It will update the articles each time you open your chosen RSS reader.
