Flash has opened my eyes to how wonderful a resource it could be for music education! I have embedded here a flash file I created for a masters assignment. Thanks to my friend Justin I have begun to dream up some cool interactive ideas for music education.
Here is my first animation:
I was inspired in part by an excellent resource called Music Tech Teacher. On this site are resources for teaching, technology ideas and Flash Animated Games! These games include name that piece/composer and even help instruct in aural training or note recognition. This clever use of flash animation as an educational tool has inspired me to create something fun, engaging for my students.
Try these excellent Symphony Orchestra websites for your own music classes. They offer everything from instrumental encyclopaedias to audio clips and videos! Not to mention, if you are writing a unit on Instruments of the Orchestra you should not pass by these sites without checking what they have to offer.
- Dallas Symphony Orchestra
- New York Philharmonic
- San Francisco Symphony
- Baltimore Symphony Orchestra
- Play Music
- Nashville Symphony – The animated music scrolling at the bottom of the page is very cool
Stay tuned as I learn more, review Sibelius Instruments Software and post my successes here!
