Web 2.0 is a rapidly expanding collection of tools, resources and interactive opportunities for educators and students online. As an educator we should be so excited about the endless opportunities we have to learn from other teachers and professionals across the globe on how to teach effectively. That is not to say you or I are not good teachers or even that you are a bad teacher if you know nothing about Web 2.0.
But! We can learn to engage our students more effectively, learn to present material in an exciting way for them, learn how to create tasks that measure the retention of facts and figures as well as how creative their responses can be! Every child is different, every educator is different – so lets find a way to collaborate, expand and build on the different ways we think and look to educating the whole student in many different ways. Web 2.0 can help with that.
I will be collating a regular posting of links here @ Web 2.0 Links seen in the menu above. My lovely wife who maintains a blog @ Teaching & Learning, made the beautiful collage on the front of this post and she is always looking into web 2.0 resources. So be assured, there will be more coming for you to use in the classroom or studio. And as always, be keen to visit, ask questions and just have a go with Web 2.0.
As for some small examples try the following links of past posts that included student work-samples and ideas for Web 2.0 tools in the music classroom. Then, with some imagination, bend the tasks for your own lessons:
• Music Creation Online Part 2
• Using ISSUU.com for Publishing
Lastly, make sure you visit my post on iUSETHIS for some free RSS Applications to collate all the RSS Blog feeds you will find and that I will link to the above Web 2.0 Menu.
it was very interesting to read wrightstuffmusic.com
I want to quote your post in my blog. It can?
And you et an account on Twitter?
I’m happy! It’s pleasant to see somebody really educated about what they do. Retain up the great work and I’ll return for much more! Many thanks!
