Yr 8 World Music Assignments
I recently did a unit on world music with my year 8 music classes. I gave some industrious students the option of presenting their assignments via wix.com. They were so excited that they went above and beyond what the task actually demanded from them. Parents became involved and the level of research and exposure to music of other cultures was outstanding.
Instead of presenting their assignments on paper/cardboard these flash animations/web based presentation tools allowed them to attach videos of traditional performances, show scales and attach recordings of national anthems. The educational experience was content rich and rewarding. Not to mention I enjoyed marking them!
